Gilford’s 2012 Ironman, Timberman & Sprint Triathlon a huge success!

August 24, 2012

This past weekend was the 2012 Ironman 70.3, Timberman and Sprint Triathlon and with much success and fanfare I might add!  The event was staged at Ellacoya State Beach in Gilford and started with a 1.2 mile lake swim in the crystal clear Lake Winnipesaukee waters and followed by a 56 mile scenic bike run around the area and finishing with a 13.1 mile run. Those athletes certainly had their Wheaties that morning! The 2011 Ironman 70.3 Timberman is a qualifier for the 2013 Ironman World Championship 70.3.

The Timberman has been an amazing, extremely well organized event that  Gilford is proud to host!  Thousands of participants from all parts of the country came and enjoyed the race as well as the opportunity to spend some vacation time in NH’s beautiful Lakes Region.

To the hundreds of volunteers, organizers and participants in this remarkable event; hats off to you! You really do deserve a ‘congratulations’ for pulling off such an amazing experience and thank you for making Lake Winnipesaukee and the Lakes Region your home for the weekend!
