Did you know that you can camp out during the summer and winter? Just park your camper or RV at a full hook-up electric site and enjoy the Lakes Region during several seasons. In the summer, there is a camp store that has all your needs right there. If you prefer, pitch your tent by the stream, or in one of the many sites; bring your fishing rod to the pond, or just sit back and relax by the pool. There are even cabins available for those who like to “glamp” out with the basic creature comforts of bunk beds, electricity and electric heat.
AERIAL TREETOP ADVENTURES, a newer addition to Gunstock Mountain Resort, challenges you up in the trees with 8 different courses. There are both children and adult programs available. Included are foot bridges, ladders, swings, zip lines and more. Guides are available to show you how to use the right equipment and be safe.
If you prefer a casual ride, try the Segway tour. I tried the Segway just to see if I could do it and found it a lot of fun. It only takes a few minutes to get used to, and Guides are available.
Now if you want the ultimate experience, be sure to check out the Zip Line. What a ride! A trainer is with you to assist the entire time. You do have to be at least 10 years old and at least 50 pounds. Be sure you have good sturdy shoes on as no open-end or open-toe shoes are permitted. The Zip Line is the longest in the US – about 1 ½ miles – and it takes about 2 hrs. to complete the entire program. You can go as fast as 50-55 mph, or if you prefer, 25-30 mph. You decide, as you control it. Which ever you choose, it’s fantastic. Did I mention the view from the top? Incredible.
Back to winter – if you don’t ski, try tubing. Next year Gunstock hopes to have summer air tubing. Wahoo! That ought to be fun!
There are a lot of new things happening at Gunstock. This year, they are in the process of starting to rebuild the ski jumps which will be a great experience for many.
