With New Hampshire’s vibrant fall colors in full effect, its no wonder so many people we talk to absolutely love the area. In addition to the beautiful fall season, here are a few other accolades relating to our state to be proud of…
- New Hampshire was named the `most livable state in the nation” for the 5th straight year according to Morgan Quinto Corp. of Kansas. This ranking is based on a list of 44 factors including… median household income, crime rate, business tax climate, employment, health, environment and education.
- NH has the highest median income in the nation, according to statistics released by the US Census Bureau. NH’s first place ranking was followed closely by New Jersey and Connecticut.
- NH has the 4th lowest unemployment rate in the country at 5.7% according to the bureau of labor statistics… sounds very favorable compared to California at 12.4% and Nevada at 14.4%.
- NH is rated the best place in the nation to raise children by the national kids Count survey.
- NH has the lowest crime rate in the country according to FBI statistics
- Lake Winnipesaukee, NH was rated the #1 retirement place in the country under the category “leisure living” for recreational and cultural opportunities”…. Rated by MacMillan travel — fifth edition of retirement places rated.
- NH has the lowest poverty rate in the country.
- NH has the lowest teenage birth rate and lowest infant mortality rate in the country.
- NH has been ranked #3 state in the country for healthy living
- NH has one of the lowest tax burdens in the nation according to a Washington research group.
- NH students have consistently placed among the top of the country, in high SAT scores.
- Over 87% of the land in NH is covered by forests, making New Hampshire the 2nd most forested state in the country.
Hopefully this positive information will help bring some of you back into the light. Even in the aftermath of the recession, we have so much to appreciate here in NH. Let’s all get out and enjoy the last burst of fall foliage… I know I plan on getting out this weekend to do some hiking and photography.
